My PhD interview is on the same date as the 60th anniversary of Israel! Could this be a sign? ;)

I have been invited to an interview for a PhD I applied for. It's also at the John Innes Centre as the last one was and is accredited by the UEA. Here's the schedule:

1330 Arrive at JIC Reception (ask for Dominic Ashdown)

So serious! I just don't want to mess this up! It's on quinolone (an class of antibiotics) action on bacteria and if I get it I'll get £12,600 plus a surplus stipend a year! :O

I'm so worried that I'll be just not what they're looking for. :(

Can you believe this person?!! She is actually saying it's ok for a woman to deliberately risk the life of her unborn child! How can people be so stupid?!! She says it's the woman's own body, err no, the child is separate and deserves rights if the woman won't have an abortion! It belongs to the woman, that's the difference. Why not go binge drinking then? A woman shouldn't become pregnant if she isn't prepared to care for the child!

I wish the lecturers wouldn’t recommend crappy books, they just waste my time!

It's an informal acceptance but it's because the person who can send a formal reply is away but it'll be odd for the Prof. to take the time out to email me this response and then for me for be rejected!

It's a MSc in Medcial Microbiology (Research) for two years (as taught and research) and if I do well enough I might be able to do a third year which could lead to a PhD! :D

I have to complain about the bastard final year project supervisor (Andy Johnston)! Seriously. On thursday I'll see someone from the student union to get advise on how to go about it. The sooner the better. Apart from the shit I've had to put with in his so called teletubby project, he actually marked me down a geat deal and to explain it he made up lies, such as I didn't know what I was doing (wtf) and there was something wrong with my behaviour! The bastard! I don't think my uni will care but god damn it something will be done about it! I can hardly get myself to revise since find how I did and read his comments! The arrogant bitchy bastard actually thought he could get away with it? I just wish I could complain now but there isn't a complaint proceedure online. It just says if you don't know how get advice (so I'll see someone from the student union on Thursday). If I knew this would happen I NEVER WOULD HAVE GONE TO MY UNI!!! NEVER! DON'T GO THERE! THE UNIVERSITY OF EAST ANGLIA SUCKS!

I'm going to do so badly in tomorrow's exam...

God I feel sick. I got an email which I have copied and pasted below. I thought someone may have made it up originally because if it's true it'll be like the country is becoming like Nazi Germany. But the petition seems genuine. I'm making this entry public so people not on my flist can read this shocking news and sign up.

I decided to go on a hiatus. LJ has been really slow lately so it's pointless visiting it most of the time.

Yesterday there was a lunar eclipse that could be seen from where I live. It's where the Earth casts a shadow on the moon. I got pics up until the total eclipse but once the moon was totally immersed (where it look mostly dark red (like Mars)) my camera stopped focusing (I had probs focusing it as it happened but managed to get some that came out alright). Then my batteries ran out which was a shame because when the moon emerged it was like a solar eclipse with the light of the moon shining out as the shadow moved away. Who would have thought chocolate could taste so bad! Just ate some dark chocolate and my god it's definitely dark or more like pure chocolate. Far too strong for me. It makes me feel sick but yet I'm still eating it...

My final year project didn't go well this week. At the mo I'm growing Halomonas in different substances. First I got funny optical density readings so I started again but the cultures in 3 separate experiment just wouldn't grow. So today I started again. Was nearly finished making the media when by accident put some really foul smelling god knows probably toxic crap instead of water! It was because someone replaced a container of water with the exaclty same container and in the same place but with water scribbled out and raby(??) written on it. Weird. So I had to start yet again. I hope it works this time. Also when I apologised to my supervisor about it not working he replied with you should be! And stared at me for the next 5 mins really angrily. :S It turns out it's probably not even my fault.

When I got home today I decided to ride on my dad's electric bike and take some photos of nature stuff nearby. But it got dark quickly so most of the photos didn't come out right and also there wasn't anything to take photos of.

Yey I got my new hard drive (about bloody time) and I got 73% in the infection and immunity course test! :D

Met up with friends and watched Flushed Away. I enjoyed it, the second half more than the first half. Unlike with the other animations by the guy who done Wallace and Gromit it was done with computer graphics in his style. I didn't realise with the animals. For the humans it was obvious but the animals looked like they were made of clay so I thought while watching it was a mixture of the two. Before entering the cinema this girl approached me while I was queuing for the ticket and started asking me weird questions. First she asked something strange but I don't remember. Then she asked if I was a student and then what film I was going to see. I asked her why she wanted to know and she started going on about some orange promotion and I was like would orange sick so low as to hassle ppl in a queue?!! :S Then she said that there was a offer for if 4 student went to the same film it would cost half the amount it cost with a student discount but there's only 3 in her gp. I just politely made an excuse that it was too complex for me to understand but really I did, I 'm just not going to buy my ticket with a bunch of strangers! For all I know I might need up paying for all their tickets!

Afterwards we went to a pub and chatted but thanks to a shitty bus service I had to leave at around 11pm to catch the last bus. The others left just after.

I have watched a bit more BSG. I haven't taken to it so far. Never finished watching the forth ep and didn't enjoy the fifth one very much but maybe I'll like others I haven't seen yet. Afterall I don't like all Atlantis eps.

Oh and I started watching BSG yesterday. Saw the miniseries part 1, the first and second ep and now watching the miniseries part 2. I think it's ok. Not as original as Stargate Atlantis.


I was going to see seals with friends today but decided at the last min not to. Maybe another time. I just feel better getting some studying out of the way. So far have been revising for the genome bio test and will have to finish the parasitology report. Been looking for Xmas jobs. No luck yet. :(
